Silly Mountain
Among other things we did a hike with Emily and Meri. We went up, down and around Silly Mountain in nearby Apache Junction. Not a lot of elevation, but some parts of the trails are steep and require scrambling up and down (scrambling is when the trail is step enough to require hands on the ground or sometimes your butt in the ground on the way down).
The picture of the four of us is at the High Point of the hike. The picture of the 3 generations was taken at the base of the mountain just before sunset tonight.
Before the hike we drove up to the town of Globe. The drive up reached an altitude of 4,600 feet before dropping back to 3,000 or so. We went to an ancient Pueblo site and had lunch in a bar in Globe. Globe is a copper mining town and the bar (the Drift Inn) was built in 1902. Lunch was great!
