Thought this trip Gloria and I have encountered very few lizards.  We did see a lizard or two and a Gila Monster in Tucson.  Here in Gold Canyon we are starting to see a whole lot more.  On our hike the other day we saw 4 different Gila Monsters and several smaller lizards.
A Gila Monster is the only venomous lizard native to the United States.  They can reach a length of 2 feet.  The 5 we saw were 12 -14 inches long.
