Hike Today

Today's weather was just about perfect.  Low 70's with a nice breeze.  We did a hike in the Tonto National Forest. Which borders Lost Dutchman's State Park.  It stills amazes us how colorful the desert is here, at least this time of the year.  More and more cactus have blooms, add the wildflowers and it's pretty colorful.  I'll try to process the pictures from today and get some posted.
These 2 pictures....well let me start by saying they are totally unrelated.
The first is Gloria with the Superstition Mountains in the back ground.  The second is a lizard we came across on our hike.  He posed for us on this rock and stayed there quite awhile.  Most of these guys are pretty shy and head for cover.  I kept getting closer and then laid down on the ground for this shot. He is about 5 -6 inches long and I figured this is about as close as my lens would focus.  Now when I ay down on the ground here, I have to look closely for small cactus shoots and any critters.  This spot looked ok, but as I was getting up I noticed ants everywhere.  Guess I was concentrating on the lizard and missed seeing them.  I checked my camera backpack over closely and Gloria checked me out to be sure I wasn't carrying any stowaways into the truck with us.

I haven't looked the lizard up yet to see what it was.  If you know, I would like to hear your ID.
