Saturday in Tucson

We had a lazy start to the day and then did a late morning bike ride.  We rode part of the loop trail that runs along side the campground.  Lots of people( many of them families ) out riding this morning.  It was nice to see that.

We were on the wait list for a guided sunset hike at the west unit of Saguaro National Park, but no one canceled.  So we went over there on our own.  The sunset was pretty nice.  I shot a time lapse from the visitors center.  We did a couple of the shorter hikes and saw some different birds.  While I was photographing the sunset Gloria was watching for birds near by and heard a different call.  She kept watching and looking following the sound.  With the aid of a pretty good set of binoculars Gloria was able to pick out the source of the call.  It turned out to be a Gambel's Quail.  You'll have to Google it to see a picture, because Gloria's photographer was busy.  She was excited to say the least.  The male is a very striking bird.

We had a very late dinner, so that its it for today.  One picture form this evening. The very happy birder herself, and this was before the quail.
