Holly WOW !
We started the day with a breakfast at the campground. It was pretty good and reasonable. The rest of the earlier morning was spent on camper cleaning and maintenance. I had a couple of quick fixes that needed to be done. This is our second season with this fifth wheel and we had 3 minor issues on this trip. I have parts ready to be sent once we get to a location where we will be stationary for a longer period of time. The dealer and factory have been great to work with for our few and minor issues. So for now Gloria doesn't have a central vacuum system and I have to worry about propane tanks switching automatically. WE ARE ROUGHING IT FOR SURE NOW !
We decided to go into Port Aransas proper and see what there was to see. By happenstance we found the holy grail ( if you are a birder or nature photographer ). There is a nature preserve and a birding center that connect. I don't know the size of the area but it is pretty large. We will be going back there everyday for the rest of our stay. We say more noteworthy birds than we would have ever hoped for. I was not prepared for this, I did have my camera, but only had a small lens.
It is only about 3 miles from our campground so we went back and got more fire power. I have not had time to process all of the pictures and video I took, so I'll post just one picture for now. This is a Green Heron. I couldn't get any closer to one of these birds if I was in a zoo or rehab center.
If someone wanted to see shore birds or learn bird photography...this is the place to be. What a find. I don't know how this was not on our radar screen, but we are very glad we found it.
