Fish Market
In Lima, Jose joined our group. His was our local expert for the day. Our first stop that morning was the the local outdoor fish market. It is a co-operative type of arrangement and tightly monitored for freshness, quality, weights and measures. It has always been said that if fish smells really fishy...it's not fresh. This place did not smell bad.
Of all places, Gloria got a life bird at the market. An Inca Tern. The tern was hanging around to steal fish and it did manage a meal while we were there.
We were greeted by the president of the co-operative as we walked up and can be seen in o0ne of the images.
The boats used by most of the fishermen are the small colorful wooden boats you seen in the images below.
