Cusco
On day 4 of our South America trip we flew from Lima to Cusco Peru. Lima is at sea level, Cusco is at 11,152 ft elevation. Manuel, our trip leader for Peru lives in Cusco. We were met at the airpot by a bus and Manuel's son, who accompanied us to our first stop. Manual's wife sent homemade tamales for us to add to the box lunch that was provided. The tamales were fabulous.
From the airport we headed for the Sacred Valley of the Incas. After climbing a bit higher we would descend into the valley and be at an elevation of 9,400 feet. A much better elevation for us to acclimate to.
During the bus ride we made a few stops to view the valley from the mountain road vantage points. Our first glimpse of what we were instore for.
Some images from the bus ride. This is more of the photographic genre I like to do. Remember when view the images...bigger is better.
