A day of hiking
Lake Serene yesterday morning.
Yesterday we spent most of the day hiking. Our first hike was to the top of Bald Mountain.
The trail was mostly over solid rock. The objective was to reach the fire tower.
The fire tower is open to the public. So of course we climbed it.
One of the views from inside the tower. I think it is looking out toward the High Peaks Region.
After that is was a hike around Moss Lake. No rock on the trail, in fact very wet in spots.
We go back to Old Forge in time to go to View. A beautiful Art Center. A place where they display art and have art workshops. Currently they are showing water color work, woodcarving and a photographer. They had just had a quilt show over the weekend.
While we were walking around looking at the exhibits I felt something under my foot when I stepped.
I looked down and saw that it was a clump of mud. I thought how odd to see that here in this beautiful building with it's hardwood floors. Then it hit me. The clump of mud under my left boot probably came off my right boot. I went back into the other rooms and checked the floors. Sure enough there were little clumps if mud here and there.
Both Gloria and I had left a trail of dark dirt everywhere we walked. I grabbed Gloria and we made a hastily exit.
