Joshua Tree Update1
Whew...where has the week gone. We are in 29 Palms CA, just a stone's through from the Oasis Entrance of Joshua Tree National Park. No government shut down that we know of, so we were in the park everyday from Monday through Friday. We did most of the major trails and saw most of the major views and such. I 'll add more on our time in the park later. Something about being outdoors all day makes us ready for bed pretty early. Maybe it's the time zone thing or whatever, but we are ready for bed early and sleep like a log all night.
It has been very windy and cold here. But we are not near any of the major fires. The temps and wind aren't too bad in our campground in 29 Palms, but all of the park is at a higher elevation and the winds and temps were much worse inside the park. The higher the elevation the colder and windier it gets.
Today we visited a couple of friends from Cheboygan who winter out here. We had a great time with Ross and Ronnie. We learned even more about this area from them and it was a fun day. You will see in the pictures that Ross had a little incident kite surfing on South Padre Island a few weeks ago. Hope he mends quickly and fully.
Ross is also a drone pilot and has a pretty serious drone. Tom was really interested the quick demonstration Ross did with his drone.....Gloria ....a little less enthusiastic about the whole thing. I am guessing she was thinking about Santa and the "boys and their toys" thing. :)
It was a fun day for us.
