A True Story

A True Story

I wouldn’t say that  “ I am not a morning person” , but I do like to start my day off slow.  Sit down with a cup of coffee and read email, and the Cheboygan Tribune on my iPad.  This morning  things were different.  As soon as I opened my iPad I noticed I couldn’t really focus on the screen.  I wear glasses mostly for reading, the top of my lenses have a very mild prescription for distance.  But it’s easier to just wear them all the time, then I don’t spend a lot of time looking for glasses when I need to read something.

So this morning when I was having trouble reading the print, first thing I did was to lower the screen brightness, no help.  I held the glasses up and the lenses looked clear.  I thought I would just have my coffee and wait a few minutes.  I didn’t say anything to Gloria about this.  Without my glasses on I looked at things with both eyes, then with one eye at a time.  Everything seemed normal.  Put my glasses back on and sure enough things at a distance of more than an arms length looked fine, but couldn’t focus on near objects or print.

After struggling with this…silently, I thought.  I noticed that with my left eye, things were better, but my right eye was the real issue.  No matter how I moved my head the progressive lens on the right didn’t help.  Now I am getting worried.  I held the glasses up to the light light again to check for smudges.  At this point, Gloria ( who reads me like a book ) says “ whats wrong?”.

I told her about my vision loss.  Now I am still holding the glasses up to the light at this point, when she ask “ is there glass in there ?”.  About now I am thinking what dumb question as I put my finger through the frame where the right lens should have been.

You can’t make this stuff up.
