Our Campground
Ok like I said in my previous post, we are at the lazy Days KOA on the south side of Tucson. Lazy Days RV, for you non RVers, is a very large chain of RV dealerships. So one of their dealerships is right next door. I am guessing many campers go next store and leave with a new rig.
The area around the campground is kind of industrial, several large RV dealerships, a Camping World, and a Truck Leasing firm. So as mundane as the immediate area is inside the fence is fantastic. It's all RV's no permanent campers or park models. A few cabins for rent.
There is a bar and grill onsite as well as heated pools.
We have a back in site on the outside road with a small park area behind us. Setting up was a challenge. We have 3 slide outs. Our site had it's power pedestal on one side and a good size grapefruit tree on the other side. Between our power pedestal and the next campsite was on orange tree, with ripe fruit.
We tried for 1/2 hour to find a way to ft our 34 foot camper in and be able to open the slides, no way. I stopped one of the staff driving bay in a golf cart picking up trash bags. Told him about our issue. His response was..." Mike and Tonya are trimming trees right now, I'll go get them".
In a few minutes Mike and Tonya showed up and did a heavy pruning of the tree and we were good to go. Our slides are all out and we had a bowl of grapefruit on the table.
We traded the Border Patrol helicopters for F16 fighter jets. The Air Force trains foreign military pilots here. We are very near the air filed. But they mostly fly in the daytime. Not bad at all really.
So we have grapefruit, oranges and lemons all ripening everyday. There is a basket at the check in desk, you just stop in and help your self. Grape fruit and oranges we just pick at our site. The grapefruit is good, I'll try the oranges tomorrow.
