Hiking Day

Today, Tuesday, we visited Sabino Canyon.  We missed this area when we were here the last 2 weeks of February 2016.  Boy are we sorry we couldn't fit this in last year.  What a spot.

Sabino Canyon is a National Recreation Area and is part of the Coronado National Forest.
It is a great birding spot and has several great hikes.  The roads are closed to all traffic except for their shuttle service.  The shuttle will take you back to the end of the road, some 3.5 miles.  You can get off at any of the 9 stops, spend as long as you like and catch another shuttle to go further or go back to the visitors center.

We did a few hikes and one took us from the canyon floor up to I would say 50 % of the way to the top of the canyon. A pretty steep climb.

The shuttles run from I think it's 9:30am till 5:00 pm.  Before 9am and after 5pm the road is open to bicycles. Its basically uphill for 3.5 miles.  But what goes up must come down.  Only catch is there are several bridges.  Most of the "bridges" are really low head dams so they have water running over them.  The current swept a biker off the bride last week.  It also got a woman and her 7 year old daughter.  So it's a concern.

I just downloaded the pictures form my camera, but I did process 3 images.  2 People shots and one of the stream crossings.
