More Peru

We left Aqua Calientes via the train.  Once at the station in Ollantaytambo we are on our bus heading for Cusco.  But we have a few stops.  

It’s a very short ride to our first stop, the huge Inca fortress of Ollantaytambo. This is one of the few places where the Spanish lost a battle to the Incas during their conquest of Peru.  

The fortress is a large terrace with a temple on the hilltop.  Several of us hiked up to the temple.
