deer

Recently we were birding and hiking in Madera Canyon.  We have visited this area several times in the past and seldom see any deer.  Today we say at least 4.  The they were in pretty heavy cover, but most of the trees still don't have leaves yet so with a little patience it was possible to get some openings for a clear capture of their faces.
They are Coues' deer, a sub species of white-tailed deer.
