We R On The Beach !
Been to busy to post. We spent a day getting caught up, laundry, truck wash and then a walk along the river. Saw some very interesting waterfowl. Pictures to come later. Te next day we visited the last Mission, Mission San Jose then downtown to see the Alamo.
We left San Antonio this morning. Had a very pleasant drive, pulling our fifth wheel, of just under 3 hours. Clear skies, smooth road, temps in the mid 70's and very light winds. And when you can get diesel for $1.79 per gallon.....well that's about as good as it gets for us RV- ers.
We are now set up on Mustang Island in the State Park Campground. Mustang Island is a barrier Island just off Corpus Christie TX. We will be here for 3 nights, then we move a few miles down the beach to a private campground for another 7 nights.
It feels kinda of nice to be away from the BIG CITY. Texas has some 27 million people and San Antonio is the second largest city in Texas. So as you can imagine ....it is busy and crowded. The H.E.B. grocery store we used has a police officer walking and or ridding a golf cart in the parking lot.
We saw an officer in the evening and we also saw one in the afternoon. Beggars were working the parking lots everywhere we went.
We shopped in the H.E.B. in Corpus Christie this afternoon. Much nicer experience plus the prices were about 30% lower than back home in Cheboygan. We bought a filet of Sockeye Salmon for our inner tonight and it was exceptionally fresh.
A very short video, actually a time lapse, of a drive on the beach at Mustang Island State Park.
