Catch Up
Ok to get caught up….
We have been planing an RV trip to the Southwest for this winter. We wanted to leave Michigan near the end of January and come back home mid April.
Last Sunday we were nearly ready to go but the weather in northern Michigan was terrible. The Lake Effect snow making machine wouldn’t stop, Every rime I looked at the forecast it had changed for the worst. Over lunch on Sunday we saw a small window of hope. The wind direction was about to change slightly. This put a pause of a few hours in the snow. I checked the webcams for Interstate 75 in the areas of the main lake effect areas and saw pavement in the pictures. So while Gloria ran the garage door opener to the house sitter, I put condoms on the bikes ( bet you didn’t know they made condoms for bikes) and loaded them on the back of the 5th wheel. By 2:30 pm we were ready to roll.
We made it to Mount Pleasant Michigan that night. We were right at the end of the lake effect reach. It was windy and cold. We got back on the road the next morning with temps in the single digits. We stopped for the night in Mount Vernon IL. We had driven with a daytime temp of 4 degrees for several hours. The next night we stopped in New Boston Texas. The temperature were much warmer. We made it to our first destination, San Antonio TX. Today was beautiful. Sunny skies and a high of 69 degrees and very breezy. Felt great.
We plan to be in San Antonio for 7 days and then move to the Gulf Coast, destination to be determined. After that we will head further west.
I plan to keep the blog updated and will also paste the same pictures and info on Facebook as well. So you can follow either one.
