Brooks Lake

 This is one of my favorite images for 2024.  It was chosen as the winning entry in our photography clubs monthly contest for March 2025.  The category for March was landscapes.  Below is my description that I submitted for the image.

This scene of Brooks Lake was made during the 2024 Wind River Photographers retreat in the Grand Tetons National Forest area of Wyoming.  The lake had mountains on nearly all sides and the rising sun took a little extra time to clear the eastern mountains and be able to begin casting light on the far shoreline area.  I had used a moderate telephoto lens to both bring the far shoreline closer and compress the scene some. 

The camera was on a tripod and I used 1.3 stops of negative exposure to protect the brighter parts of the scene.  The raw image was processed in Adobe Camera Raw.
