A cowboy and his dog

 For the first quarter of the year our photography clubs quarterly challenge was Black & White.  One of my submissions was the image below as is the description I included.  

This image was made during a photography work shop titled the “The Magic of Cowboys”. The workshop was held in Gold Canyon AZ this past February.   During the workshop several cowboys and cowgirls were our subjects in all types of ranch life settings.  In this shot Rycke was posing with his dog at his side.  

For this particular scene strong sun ight was reflecting off of buildings on the opposite side of the driveway.  This put the subjects in nice soft sunlight and the background, being perpendicular to the other buildings, in a soft shadow.   While I had several nice shots, I submitted this one because of the pose of the dog.  Incidentally Rycke is a champion in team roping.  The raw image was processed in Adobe Camera Raw.
