Workshop
I have recently returned from a 4 day photography workshop in Gold Canyon AZ. I came home with nearly 15,000 images. It was a fantastic workshop, lead by Lisa Langell Photography. The high image count was due to the set up of the workshop. The workshop is titled "The Magic of Cowboys" and takes place 100% on a working ranch in Gold Canyon AZ. The cowboys and cowgirls were our models along with a few reenactment guys. The workshop gets into most genre of photography, but is heavily slanted towards action. Hence the high image count. I loved it. 12 hours a day of just photography with other photographers. I didn't even check the news or the stock market. Plus Gloria was with me, just not participating in the workshop. She did her own thing during the daytime.
I have had a pretty busy schedule since returning and have not had much time to devote to processing my images. I have them all in my desktop computer now and properly organized and backedup.
Going through them to see what I have and deleting images that are out of focus of my feet or the ground I landed on this image and had to process it right now.
This I believe is Duncan one of our cowboys. If you follow my post going forward, I guarantee you will see a lot of Duncan and not in silhouette, at least all of the time.
We were fortunate to have a few clouds in the sky for our sunsets. I shot this with a silhouette in mind, protecting the highlights in the sky. There were several riders and several takes of them riding towards us on the dirt road leading to the ranch's entrance, hence the dust in the background. I loved the rim light on the horse, and was thrilled to see the setting sun peaking through by the riders elbow creating a slight starburst. I shot this with my Olympus OM1 and I have found that with a micro four thirds camera you can get a starburst effect with a lower f stop than I would on a full frame camera. This shot was at f/9.0.
Olympus OM 1, 1/1250 sec, f/9.0, iso 640, focal length 115mm (230mm in 35 mm equivalent)
