More from the Desert Museum

Tonights image is a Great Horned Owl in the rays of the rising sun.  This is a wild bird...not a museum captive.  This lady decided that a a crevice in the cougars den would be a great spot to nest.  She wasn't totally above the cougars capability to be invited to lunch. I was told by a couple from our Photo Club who are docents there that  after consulting with the DNR and finding out that her single egg was not viable they encouraged her to relocate.  She did move...a few yards to the bears den.  Actually a little bit safer location.

One of the things I really like about the Desert Museum is the fact that they have examples of native habitat all over the property.  This mixed habitat draws wild species in and provides many photo ops.
