Mardi Gras
Yesterday was whats known as Fat Tuesday in most places, but in Southern Alabama and Louisiana it is know as Mardi Gras. It is the culmination of Carnival Season. Schools are closed Monday and Tuesday, some business close early....it's a big deal.
We started our day with a Pancake Breakfast at the Methodist Church in Gulf Shores AL. The Gulf Shores parade started at 10 am pretty much in front of the church.
At 2 PM we are in Orange Beach AL for their parade. On the way home we caught the tail end of the boat parade along the Intercostal Waterway. In all of the parades the people with the floats throw beads, moon pies, little stuffed animals, cups, and other things to the crowds. It was a full day and I have tons of pictures and video to share later. For now just a couple of quick shots.
