ON THE ROAD AGAIN

Let me start with an update to our bear. Last photo was June 14th.
The turtle eggs do not appear to have been disturbed. So we are keeping our fingers crossed that a raccoon doesn't come along and dig them up. I am hoping the scent of fresh twine will mask any turtle scent and keep any predators away.

After a few days at home we headed to St Paul MN for 4 days. I am a member of the American Association of Woodturners. This weekend was our annual symposium. Many of the worlds best turners are in town for this event and several of them demonstrate their skills and techniques. There are galleries featuring some very fine wood art. There were over 1700 registered for the event and when you add in demonstrators and folks running the trade show the number swells to over 2000. The galleries were open to the public so there were a lot of people around. The banquet was attended by 1200. There was an auction of wood art pieces and I recall there was 64 items and they brought in $67,000. Several of the pieces went for over $3,000.

When we first arrived we noticed limos and TV crews all over the place. I thought that was pretty impressive......until I found out the NHL draft was in the same complex as our symposium.

After 2 days home we are now camping in Sault Sainte Marie MI for 6 days. It is getting late now so maybe tomorrow I will post some pictures from St. Paul.
