A teachable moment
Observing this family of Alaskan Coastal Brown Bears I am granted insight into how a sow teaches her cubs to fish for themselves. In this series of images 1. A sow catches a salmon with her two cubs watching her. 2. Once she has secured a fish the cubs b-line it to her. 3. Mom then bites the tail section off the fish. 4. With the cubs approaching she drops the fish into the water and walks away. 5. Undaunted, the darker cub searches for the injured fish. 6. It comes up with the fish, rewarded with a meal that it worked for.
