The Sentinel

 From watching countless hours of BBC nature shows we have learned that a group of meerkats are called a mob, a gang or a clan.  I like clan.  They are a great example of working together as a team.  They share all of the responsibilities of the clan.  Child rearing and gathering food, everything.  They always have sentinels watching, looking for danger, while the rest of the clan forages for food.

Even in a zoo setting it appears the behavior continues.
