Sante Fe Trail
Continuing on with images from our recent trip out east. We left Taos mid afternoon and picked a route east that took us up over the mountains through Angle Fire NM. The next day we picked up US 56 and entered Kansas in the extreme southwest corner of the state. Just before Dodge City we picked up a secondary road for just a few mies so that we could pick up US 50 9 miles west of Dodge. At that point there is a registered national landmark, "The Santa FE Trail Remains". at this park one can find wagon wheel ruts from the wagons using the Santa Fe Trail in the 19th century. They are still visible at this spot. Though to see them this time of year you would need to be there when the sun is low in the sky.
A few images from this stop.
