We are back in Nomadic mode.  Just about 10 days ago we got the 5th wheel out of storage, de-winterized it, restocked it and did a short trip to Kartchner  Caverns State Park. Not too far from home.

Today we left on a more extensive trip.  Our first destination is Show Low Az.  Show Low is a mountain community in the White Mountains of Az.  It's about a 4 1/2 hour tow without construction or traffic issues.

The trip up here was an adventure.  You start with going through Tucson to Orio Valley and then head North.  The shortest route being route 77 to 60 not being recommended for towing, leaves us a slightly longer option that still has plenty of white knuckle driving.

The day was a real roller coaster for temperatures and altitudes.  The temps were 97 degrees in Tucson at about 11 am and it was 86 degrees in Show Low at 3 pm.

For altitude we started the day at 2830 feet and got as low as 1400 feet around Florence. Once we got to US 60 the real roller coaster started.  It was up to 5000, down 3000, up to 4000, down to ? then back up to 5000 and then finish the day over 6,000.

After one of the more interesting stretches of the trip I pulled off in an overlook and took a picture with my iPhone.

In the picture I have labeled the road in two places, where we were and where we are. We descended on a switchback down to a bridge just above the Salt River and then up more switchbacks to the overlook, all of this while towing a 5th wheel camper.  Piece of cake if you ask Tom, but don't ask the co-pilot Gloria.
