Surprised Again
We truly live in a wonderful location. You just never know what you are going to see in our front yard. When you look out in our front yard there is Lake Huron and it is full of surprises. Tonight after dinner I went out on the deck to put the grill away for the night. Looking out on the lake was a tall masted ship. Gloria has an app on her iPad that shows locations of ships and we can normally tell what passes by using the app. Tonight it was the Santa Maria (replica) headed back to Bay City Michigan.
Shot handheld at 1/1250 sec, f/5.0, iso 400 with a 300 mm lens on my Olympus oME EM1 MKII.
Not 5 minutes later 2 military helicopters came by flying by not more than 75 feet above the water. From our deck I could see through the open doors of the helicopters as they went by, and I was seeing water not sky out the other door. They were that low. I only wish they came by 5 minutes sooner, while I had my camera in hand. I could have picked the names off the uniforms if I had taken some pics. Had I been flying my drone I would have been over 300 feet above them.
