Aumbrie
Gloria and I are Episcopalian. After church services on Sunday we have a coffee hour in the church hall. About a month ago Father Lou comes up to me and says he wishes we had an Aumbrie for the church. They are very expensive, but is this something you could make for us? To which I responded "sure I can build that, whats an Aumbrie ? ". Turns out its a cabinet for holding the holy oils for baptisms and anointing the sick. So I bought some oak and set off building an Aumbries. Now for the last several years my shop time has been spent concentrating on woodturning. Not much "flat work" , I was using equipment and fixtures I haven't seen for years. Some 50 hours later it was completed.
It was mounted to a wall last week and today was the Bishops annual visit. He blessed the oils and the cabinet. First project I have ever had blessed.
Some pictures below of the Aumbrie in my shop and a few from this morning after the service.
