Iowa

We are currently in a KOA Campground about 12 miles west of Des Moines Iowa.  We hoped to leave by 9am this morning and it was looking pretty good.....until I got into the truck and noticed that my tire minder had an alarm for the left rear trailer tire.  It was showing 22 psi where it should have been 75 psi.

There was a Goodyear tire dealer just a mile or two from the campground.  They got us right in but the issue was with the wheel not the tire.  The aluminum wheel was leaking air.  It has some sort of a porosity issue or something.  They mounted my spare and we were off about a hour later than we had hoped.  Minus a good spare.

In the afternoon the wind picked up and the fuel economy went down.  At our mid-day fuel stop there was a transport drive delivering a new camper to a dealer in front  of us at the RV fuel island.  There was also a beer delivery truck backed into the building to unload.  This made the  transporters exit from the fuel island pretty tight.  We swung way to the left to get extra room, but in doing so the bumper of the new camper caught the steel post on the fueling island.  He was stuck.  The post was between the bumper and the rear corner of the new camper. There was also damage to the side of the camper.  We backed out and went over to the regular pumps and got fuel.  He was still there when we left.

That reminds me that I never mentioned the transporter in the Flagstaff Camping World center.  The day we had the horrific winds that shut down the interstate the transporter had 2 smaller sized travel trailers on a car carrier trailer.  One of the new trailers had it's awning tore to shreds.

As the afternoon wore on the temps kept dropping and got to 32 F with rain.  We got off as soon as we could find a campground.  The forecast is for more rain but slowly warming temps.  The rain may help get all of the crud off our rig.  But it makes for a very long day driving.

Once at the campground we discovered that our front landing jacks would not come down. ( salt in the switch ? ) They will retract but not extend.  It also appears that our electrical issue may have returned.
I may have a lot of work to do on the camper before it goes on another trip.  This is the 5th season for this camper and we have towed it about 40,000 miles.  It does get used, but is pretty well maintained.  These issues are pretty discouraging.  Especially when they come and go at will.
